        The author of several important scholarly works on the ante bellum and
        Civil War era, Dr. Huston’s Dilemmas (2007) adds valuable insight into
        Douglas’s work to create a Democratic Party machine in Illinois, expand
        a nation increasingly troubled by slavery, carry out Jeffersonian and
        Jacksonian ideals of popular government, and oppose disunion.

Mr. George Buss
        President, Stephen A. Douglas Association, Chicago. Buss has portrayed
        Lincoln for more than fifteen years in venues that include Gettysburg and
        Ford’s Theater in Washington, D.C. He also played Lincoln in two of the
        seven C-SPAN broadcasts of the debate reenactments in 1994. In addition
        to his service as president of the Stephen A. Douglas Association of
        Chicago, Buss is vice president of the Lincoln Douglas Society. Honored
        for his work as Director of AVID for Freeport Public Schools, Buss is a
        doctoral candidate at National-Louis University.
